Updated: The Redmond software maker is moving its replacement for MSN Search from beta to final testing stages, and also is launching the final versions of Windows Live.com and Windows Live Local. (Microsoft Watch)
Microsoft will be moving its Web search service—now dubbed Windows Live Search—from beta to final testing, starting on Sept. 12.
Windows Live Search is the renamed and revamped replacement for MSN Search.

Linden Labs, the San Francisco-based creator of the virtual community Second Life, has told its users that their personal information could have been stolen due to a zero-day attack.
In a Sept. 8 announcement, the company said that users' unencrypted names and addresses, as well as encrypted passwords and payment information, could have been exposed during the attack. The company, however, said that credit card information had not been exposed.

Sun Takes A Shine To Windows
As part of an effort to expand its presence on x86-based platforms, Sun Microsystems later this year plans to deliver front-line support for customers running Windows on Sun systems.
Sun doesn't expect to bundle Windows on its systems itself. Instead, Sun sees that as an opportunity for channel partners, which are better able to support those customers once the company rolls out new systems designed with Windows in mind.
