hello everyone... i am not very good with these installations once it goes past the instructions...i hope i find some great guidance here.
i just bought the radeon 9550 256mb vid card and was installing it onto a old VIA southbridge VT8233 motherboard with intel 1.7 chip.... and had just removed the radeon 8500 128mb vid card.. i removed the old drivers and installed the new for the vid card and installed the new AGP drivers for the motherboard... but when i start up the computer with the vid card installed... the moniter will stay black and the green/orange power-on/off light will just blink on my moniter... only way i can load the xp on to the moniter is by having no vid card in the slot... i even put the old vid card in there and it will not show anything on the moniter... the weird thing is that i have to have the vid card out of the slot to have anything show on the moniter.
A couple of quick idears. Is there a power plug on the card and is it plugged in? If you have onboard video is it disabled in bios? Is AGP support enabled in bios? Check the specs. Some of the new cards use a lower voltage that older mobos don't support.
Let us know if this helps. _________________ White Papers
