A server can be defined in a computing context as a mechanical device used on a Local Area Network (LAN) which would be responsible for managing network resources by regulating clients computers connected to the server and helping to share the resources available in order of priority. It is possible for any locally connected user to be able to store and retrieve files from the server.

File server would be used to as a storage device, which is dedicated to keeping and managing files
A print server would be a device located on a network, which would enable network users to share the printer server.
A Network server is a device that controls and manages the traffic on a network.
A Database server is a computer device that is responsible for processing database queries on a network.
Servers are machines, which perform only the server tasks that are specified to it, in this context the server is said to be dedicated.
It is possible that servers are able to perform various tasks by multitasking; in this context servers have to be operating multiprocessing operating system in order for this to work.
